Sigma Zoom Telephoto 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Autofocus Lens

Capable of macro photography, this lens has a 1:2 maximum close-up magnification at the 300 mm focal length. Its the ideal high performance lens for portraits, sports photography, nature photography, and other types of photography that frequently use the telephoto range. It also has a switch for changeover to macro photography at focal lengths between 200mm and 300mm with a maximum close-up magnification from 1:2.9 to 1:2.SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass in this lens provides excellent correction of chromatic aberration.

The new multi layer lens coating and lens design reduce flare and ghost, which is a common problem with digital cameras and also creates an optimum color balance through the entire zoom range.Sigma incorporated SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass in this lens for excellent correction of chromatic aberration. I was honestly worried ordering these because the old saying “you get what you pay for.” I’ve been happy with every shot though. The main lens I wanted was the 70-300mm for zoom shots and I love it. The 28-70mm performs well too. If you are an amateur just looking to expand your camera’s capabilities these are perfect. The only bad thing about these lens’s is they are not the super performance, super expensive ones the pro’s use. This can’t really count against the star count because they are not supposed to be. They are great for the price and if someone can get a better deal I’d like to know about it.
Customer Review: Very good lens kit for the money
I’m just getting started in the DSLR area, and I’m on a very tight budget. I did some research on different lenses, and wanted something that would supplement the kit lens that came with my Canon Xt. I knew I wanted a 70-300 lens, and when I found this set with the 28-70 lens also included, I felt I had found a good buy. I’ve used both lens for a couple of months now, and I’ve been very pleased with both of them. I know they’re not the same as the higher priced lens, but I’m extremely happy with them. They both have a good heavy feel to them, very solid; the auto-focusing works wonderfully, and when I put either lens on the camera, it always feels stable – no play in them whatever. In the future, I may move up to more expensive lens, but I imagine I’ll keep a set of these on hand, as well. They were such a good buy that I can use them while traveling, and won’t have to worry about damaging a high-ticket lens.

Good buy for filters! If ordering through Amazon.com, service and delivery times are great. If you go to Adorama and order from them, service and delivery leaves alot to be desired. They can’t answer your questions, they don’t understand your question, they have to verify sender info, send email to confirm, then verify receipient address, then another email and on and on. In your account status says pending, you call they don’t even have a record of your order, you give them your order number and the excuse is the person who processes the order was out that day???? No one seems to know anything. I won’t be ordering from them again even if its through Amazon.com.

Go where photography is headed with the Promote GPS! Now photographers can harness GPS technology to pinpoint the precise location from which a photograph is taken. Called “geotagging”, this new technology embeds geographic information into a photograph along with the time and date stamp. The Promote GPS Receiver features the SiRF Star III chip, which excels at acquiring and maintaining a GPS signal lock. The GPS unit consumes less than 55mA from the camera, making it one of the most power-efficient GPS receivers available for Nikon D90 and D5000 (only) DSLR cameras. It will automatically power up and down along with camera exposure meter, allowing for further saving of the camera batterypower.
Customer Review: Does what it’s supposed to do
One of the reasons that I upgraded to the Nikon D90 was its support for GPS input for tagging photos in real time. However, like many, I was disappointed with Nikon’s effort, the GP-1. I had read about a number of third party units, but the reviews of the other version of the Promote GPS unit caught my attention. This unit is essentially the same at the one for the D300 and other Nikons with its cable interface:Promote GPS Receiver for Nikon D300, D700, D3, D2X, D2Xs, D2Hs, D200 and Fuji S5 Pro cameras so you should check the reviews for that unit as well. Since it uses the SiRF STAR III chipset, it does as expected and gets a pretty quick fix on the satelites and has proven quite accurate in my testing. Initial lock takes a few minutes (the GPS icon flashes on the top LCS panet). After the initial position has been found, “hot fix” only takes a second or two when you press the shutter half way to turn the meter on. The unit is powered only when the meter on the camera is active and there is no option to have it draw power contantly and maintain the lock. While I’d like the option, it’s not a deal killer. If you want to get automatic GPS tagging while indoors, you will need to change the function in your menu for the time before the camera meter turns off to something long, like 30 minutes. Then, you will need to get your position fix while outside. Once you are inside, the GPS will remember your last position and use to tag while you are inside. The unit is fairly large. If you use it as designed – attached to the hot shoe, there is no using the built in flash on the D90. The flash cannot fully open to fire properly. So, if you want to use the on board or an external flash, you will need to remove the GPS unit from the hot shoe and clip it to your strap some how. Promote does not include any kind of additional clip to mount the unit on a strap. But, it’s considerably cheaper than the Nikon unit, gives fast and accurate GPS data, and the angled connector plugs securely into the side of the camera and sticks out of the side a minimum distance. Overall, I’m happy with the unit.

I thought the Tripod was going to be a lot bigger. It’s only a few inches tall (at max 5). It’s pretty stable and flexible but I wanted it to be a lot bigger. Good deal for the money though or if you just want to be able to stabilize it for video blogs, etc.

Customer Review: Ridiculous
This is a ridiculous price for what it is. Even worse, I realized only after I got it that it’s the frame to be used around dioptric lenses. It’s not what you would get to replace the rubber piece around the stock eye cup. So, like an earlier reviewer, I had to pull off the gasket and put it onto my eyecup. Luckily it fits so it wasn’t a complete waste and the end result was what I wanted.
